Jeff Davis’s Teen Wolf series was a loose adaptation of the iconic 1985 film of the same name. Paramount+ is now developing a film adaptation of the hit MTV series that will be released in 2022. Talk about a full-circle moment – or should we say, full moon!
Teen Wolf alum Tyler Posey joined EW last Monday to talk about the upcoming movie. Posey is excited to reprise his role as True Alpha Scott McCall. He’s even more excited to see McCall and his team come of age.
Fans of the Teen Wolf series are waiting with bated breath to see which other original cast members will return for the film. Who else can fans expect to see return to Beacon Hills?
Humble Beginning
MTVs Teen Wolf was a far cry from Michael J. Fox’s fur-covered Scott Howard dancing on top of a bus to “Surfin’ USA”. It was less of a campy tale of a teenage werewolf, and more of a dramatic tale of murder and mayhem.
Teen Wolf follows sixteen-year-old McCall as he embarks on a harrowing journey after being turned into a werewolf. From banshees to kitsunes, McCall and his pack encounter all kinds of supernatural creatures.
Of course, most of those creatures try to kill them. It makes for an exciting time for the fans, but not so much for the hapless residents of Beacon Hills. Teen Wolf ends with the McCall pack reuniting to fight a big, bad villain.
Quietly hilarious
While MTVs Teen Wolf was known for its dark moments, but also delivered some quiet funny moments. Who can forget Isaac Lahey (Daniel Sharman) who refers to McCall as “the hot girl”?
One of the show’s most iconic funny moments stems from a simple misunderstanding. When McCall’s werewolf abilities elevate him to lacrosse team captain, Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes) becomes suspicious.
He accuses McCall of cheating by juicing – slang for taking steroids. McCall responds hilariously: “My mother does all the shopping.” Hopefully the movie is just as apologetic for showing audiences the funnier side of teens fighting for their lives.

Paramount+
In September, Paramount+ . teased Teen Wolf fans by announcing the official movie. It promises that the story will continue with a release in 2022. What could this mean? Will the film pick up where the series left off?
The season finale of Teen Wolf ended with a flash forward. The evil Tamora Monroe has started building an army of fighters. Meanwhile, the McCall pack has begun recruiting outcast supernatural beings to aid them in their battle against her.
Not much has been revealed about the plot for the Teen Wolf movie. However, Paramount+ has released the plot description. The McCall pack reunites to fight their most formidable enemy yet. Will they finally face Monroe & co.?
Wolfy Reunion
In Posey’s interview with EW, he was especially excited to see Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien) return as McCall’s best friend. Does this mean that O’Brien will definitely return for the? Teen Wolf movie?
Posey called the friendship between McCall and Stilinski the most important part of the show. While full details of the film’s plot have yet to be released, Posey said he’d like to see the relationship — romantic or platonic — explored.
Other cast members have not been confirmed to reprise their roles. Holland Roden has expressed his excitement at the possibility of returning as Lydia Martin, but fans are still waiting to see if Martin will actually return to the McCall pack.
Filming for the Teen Wolf film will begin in January 2022. Meanwhile, Paramount+ will begin streaming all 100 episodes in December.
However, for fans eager to wait for the holiday season, they can catch up on the series by streaming it on Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Google Play, YouTube, iTunes or VUDU.
