Ryan Reynolds has bombed his socials, stating that he plans to take a “sabbatical” from filmmaking once his current project is completed.

The Canadian actor just finished filming spicy, a musical based on the novel by Charles Dickens A Christmas song. Reynolds stars as Ebeneezer Scrooge alongside Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer.

Ryan Reynolds posted on his Instagram, revealing the news that he would use this break in the schedule as an opportunity to step back from the film industry.

“That’s a wrap for me on spicy. I’m not sure I would have said yes to a film this challenging even three years ago,” he wrote.

“Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a lot of dreams come true,” he continued. “And this is my second movie with the wonderful Octavia Spencer.”

“Perfect time for a sabbatical from filmmaking. I’m going to miss every second of working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists.”

“Today, kindness is just as important as talent. I’ve been lucky enough to work with people who are right on both counts.”

Reynolds’ wife – and a successful actor in her own right – Blake Lively couldn’t help but mock her husband at the heartfelt post. “Michael Caine did it first,” she noted, referring to the recent announcement that the 88-year-old actor is retiring.
